Medical disclaimer

Educational content only#

Everything published here is for education and professional discussion. It is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and reading it does not create a doctor-patient relationship between you and any author.

In an emergency#

If you or someone near you may be seriously ill or injured, do not rely on this website. Contact your local emergency services or go to the nearest emergency department.

Not a protocol for treating a patient#

Articles describe tools, scores, algorithms and models, and how they behave. They are not clinical protocols. Before you apply a score, a threshold, a drug dose or an algorithm described here to a patient, check it against current national guidelines, your hospital's protocols and your own clinical judgment. Medicine and software change, and an article may be out of date by the time you read it. The date of each article is shown under its title.

Software and AI tools#

Code, prototypes and tools shown here may be experimental or built for one setting. Unless an article says otherwise, they have not been validated or approved by a regulator and must not be used to make clinical decisions until they have been tested and approved for that use in your own institution.

Patient privacy#

Authors are asked never to include anything that could identify a patient: names, record numbers, faces, birth dates or details of a case that someone could recognise. If you think an article contains such information, tell the author and it will be removed promptly.

Accuracy#

Sources are cited where possible and errors are corrected when they are found, but no guarantee is given that content is complete, accurate or current. If you spot a mistake, please tell the author.
